Excel Macro & Automate

Course overview

• This Level 2 course covers the fundamentals of the different ways of automation in Excel. No previous programming skills are required as we will use the recorder to create the code. The first part of this course will cover using the Macro Recorder to build classic Visual Basic for Applications macros. The second part of this course will use the Automate Tab and the Record Actions button to record Office Scripts.

Audience

• For those with at least the knowledge of our Level 1 courses and ideally, participants will have attended or have the knowledge of our other Level 2 courses – Data Analysis and Functions and Formulas.

Objectives

• This course aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of automating tasks in Microsoft Excel. Participants will learn to distinguish between VBA Macros and Office Scripts, enabling them to choose the right automation tool for their needs. They will gain practical skills in creating macros using the Macro Recorder, saving and executing them. Furthermore, students will discover how to assign macros to command buttons and Ribbon buttons for efficient task automation. Understanding the concepts of absolute and relative macros will be covered, enhancing their ability to create precise and flexible automation solutions. Additionally, the course will introduce the creation of Office Scripts using Record Actions, and guide students in saving and running these scripts to streamline their workflow.

• At the end of the course, you’ll be Certified by the Irish Academy of Computer Training.

• Experience with Excel is essential
• Software is provided in the Classroom and Live Virtual options
